Retaaza is thrilled to welcome Moriah Freed as our Community Access Manager. In this role, Moriah will oversee Retaaza’s Rx programming, driving the implementation and operation of the organization’s direct-to-community strategy. Her work will include managing Retaaza Farm Fresh mobile and pop-up markets, fostering community engagement, shaping policy, and spearheading related initiatives to expand food access and equity.
Moriah holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia, where she focused on food justice, solidarity economies, and systems change. She has worked to advance equitable policy initiatives in Washington State’s judicial and legislative branches, worked with national and regional coalitions on the Farm Bill, and done hands-on work in local food systems. Moriah’s expertise bridges direct service to impacted communities with policy analysis and research, making her a well-rounded advocate for systemic change.
An Atlanta native, Moriah developed a lifelong commitment to accessible, local food while spending weekends and summers working on farms throughout metro Atlanta and across the Southeast. She is deeply passionate about building food systems that center communities, support farmers, and strengthen local economies.
In her free time, Moriah enjoys hiking with her rescue dogs and exploring the natural world through mushroom foraging. She brings a wealth of experience and dedication to Retaaza’s mission, and her leadership will help advance equitable and sustainable food systems.
